Transcript:

ES: This is 5 Minute Mentor, a podcast where you’ll get advice from prominent engineers, authors, artists, and more in 5 minutes or less.

HW: I’m Heather Winkle. I’m the Head of Design at Capital One.

HW: The advice I would give a young professional, or any professional, really, is: You get to design your path. If you are thinking outside the box, and imagining what would it be like at the next level, How could I have greater impact? How can I grow? You’ll start to focus your energy in places that really matter. And what you’ll find is that, by declaring those things, people will help you. And you’ll actually be creating space for other people to grow with you. So always think about how you might level up and make sure that you’re spending your energy in the ways that serve you.
