In a sport where only .03% of the US population will compete, the thought of ultra-running, or running long distances for hours or days at a time, for most of us, would bring up pictures of pain and suffering.

However, for some, it is a way of life and one where skill and performance can increase with age.

IN THIS EPISODE:

  • What is Ultra-running? What is ultra-running and how is it different from trail running or running marathons?
  • Training and Preparation – We get a glimpse into the training and prep work that goes into running a 100-mile race, and it's not all physical.
  • Why Ultra-running? Every ultra-runner knows there is a level of pain and struggle to be expected with every race. So, why do it?

Michael Robbert has been a runner on and off his entire life. Starting in middle and high school on the Track and Cross County teams. Mike has been Trail running since moving to Colorado in 2001 and running ultras in earnest since 2013. He has 7 finishes at 100-mile events and nearly 50 ultra races in total.
