Melody Wilding is the author of the book Trust Yourself: Stop Overthinking and Channel Your Emotions for Success at Work. She has been an Executive Coach for ten years now whose specialty caters to highly sensitive and high-achieving individuals; a speaker, a teacher of human behavior at the graduate level, and a writer for a number of leading career websites.
Fascinated and extremely observant with the complexity of human behavior, even at a young age, she knew she would grow up to do something in psychology. True enough, she became a therapist at a certain online therapy company. But since that high achieving population, she catered to preferred professional guidance rather than therapy, she eventually shifted into coaching.
Highlights:

  • People pleasing tendencies - limit our trajectory because we want to get a consensus from the people around us instead of deciding on our own
  • Brag file - identify moments of strength where you have made yourself proud; building your muscle for doing well
  • Diversify your self-esteem - do not rely on your satisfaction from your professional performance
  • Sensitive striver - a high achiever who is highly sensitive; great leader who through great battles; about 20% of the entire population
  • Honor roll hangover - the endless cycle of perfectionism, people pleasing and over functioning

Are you more emotional than most people? Do you usually overthink? Do you need to think through decisions before you act? Do you have the ability to sense other people's feelings? Do you struggle with people pleasing, putting other people's needs before your own? Do you function and the people around you underperform? Do you struggle with burnout? Do you normally have unrealistically high standards? If your answers are yes to most of these questions, chances are you are a sensitive striver. Although it is in reality an advantage, this can cause one a lot of pressure, stress, and a whole lot of negative emotions. If you want to learn more and manage your own sensitivity, Melody's book could help you
