Jenn Ashton is an award-winning author and visual artist living in North Vancouver, BC. She is the author of the prize-winning article “Siamelaht” in British Columbia History (52.4 Winter 2019)
Her debut novel People Like Frank, and Other Stories from the Edge of Normal was published by Tide Water Press in 2020. Jenn is currently working on numerous projects, including a book about the history of her family in the lower mainland. Jenn just completed a year as a teaching assistant at Simon Fraser University's Writers Studio. She is the writer in residence at British Columbia History Magazine, and is studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Jenn Ashton is a woman of indigenous ancestry her great-great-great grandmother was Siamelaht who came from a pre contact Squamish Nation family. Jenn fancies herself as an amateur historian, and on her frequent journeys through the past, she tries very hard to look for truths hidden behind the facade of exploitation.
