This week a Trio of Lads talk about The Void, and discuss the finer points of Men.

"The Void" is a 2016 horror film directed by Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie. This independent Canadian production gained attention for its homage to classic 1980s horror movies and its blend of cosmic horror and practical effects. The film follows a small group of people who become trapped in a hospital surrounded by a cult-like group and nightmarish creatures from another dimension.

The story of "The Void" unfolds as a tense and atmospheric experience, drawing inspiration from Lovecraftian horror and the works of John Carpenter. As the characters navigate the increasingly disturbing and surreal hospital setting, they encounter grotesque creatures, mysterious symbols, and a sense of impending doom. The film's practical effects and creature designs are particularly notable, paying homage to the practical effects-driven horror movies of the past. "The Void" effectively creates a sense of dread and claustrophobia, immersing viewers in a nightmarish world where reality and the supernatural collide.

With its throwback style, intense atmosphere, and practical effects, "The Void" has garnered a dedicated following among horror enthusiasts. The film appeals to fans of classic horror movies, offering a nostalgic experience while also delivering its own unique and unsettling story. It stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of practical effects and the creativity that can be achieved within the horror genre.
