In the 1980's, an HIV diagnosis was equitable to getting a death sentence. No treatments existed and scientists knew very little about the virus. Today, with advances in education and research, it is not only a preventable disease, but treatments exist that make living with the disease much more manageable. Join us today as we also discuss Truvada, the treatment used in "pre-exposure prophylaxis". Truvada is a pill that patients can take daily to reduce the chance of HIV infection.
Some other interesting things we discuss on this episode include how often people actually use condoms, ways that condoms can fail, dangers of lambskin condoms, latex allergies, STI transmission methods other than during penetrative sex, and much more.
