On this episode Rich and Paul speak with syndicated and network radio programming producer, Denny Somach. Denny has worked with many of the Rock world’s greats, including: Johnny Winter, Yes, Alan Parsons, Dave Mason, Asia, Dickey Betts, and others.
Denny began his broadcasting career while attending Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. WSAN/Allentown is where Denny was on-air, and producing LIVE concerts from the local Roxy theater, with performers on their way up that included a LIVE radio broadcast featuring Billy Joel. Denny was also an on-air personality at WYSP/Philadelphia, until 1981 when he started Denny Somach Productions.
Television production credits for Denny are the first 30-minute infomercials hosted by Wolfman Jack, and Davy Jones of the Monkees. As a recognized rock historian, Denny has appeared on The Today Show, Larry King, the CBS Early Show, Dateline NBC, Showbiz Today, and Howard Stern.
He is the author of Get the Led Out: How Led Zeppelin Became the Biggest Band in the World. His latest book, A Walk Down Abbey Road is now available on Amazon. Denny takes us behind the scenes on many of these incredible productions, while also telling us about his concert promotions…that early show with Billy Joel, many career FIRSTS, the books he has authored, and HIS podcast, The Rock Podcast with Denny Somach.
