The big issues of our time transcend borders, countries, and geographies. This past year, power has become more diffuse. Many leading western countries are stifled by crises and polarization. New players are asserting themselves, taking a slice of the power pie. We identified eight macrotrends: shifting demographics, economic uncertainty, China’s stagnation, the green energy transition, the uncertain future of tech, the rise of Africa, ‘everything-washing,’ and women’s rights.
