This week, Heather explores the somewhat controversial topic of functional breathing, explaining some of the chemistry and biomechanics of the breathing process. Inspired by the work of Kathryn Bruni Young, Heather encourages listeners to find sovereignty in breathing practices. She explores the possibility of reducing breath and invites practitioners to limit their use of breath as a cue in guided movement practices. She reminds listeners, nose breath all day every day!

Heather suggests that if listeners or yoga teachers want to further explore the power of breath and functional breathing techniques, they can read the book Breath by James Nestor or check out Robin Rothenburg.

We thank you for joining us this week and invite you to leave a review of the podcast on Apple Podcasts. For more guided practices and expansive conversations, visit our website www.altarmovementstudio.com or find us on YouTube at ALTAR Digital.
