S3EP65 Wisconsin Sharptailed Grouse Society
Manage episode 395532274 series 2893489
Brian had a chance to get together with folks from the Wisconsin Sharptailed Grouse Society, WI DNR, and Crex Meadows. With the onset of lekking season and the whisperings of increased numbers of sharpies a motley crew of gentleman (if one would call it that) assembled in the visitors center educational room. The topic mostly centered around WSGS and its roots. Kyle the property manager also shares some of the history behind the 30,000 acre state wild life area, AKA Crex.
Bob Hanson of the DNR also joins the discussion to share some details about the 10 year management plan for the pine barrens. He also shares how the public can help shape the future of Tympanuchus phasianellus.
The group also discusses the kind donation from Camp Co and their efforts to help raise money to donate to the sharptailed grouse. Amaazen Outdoors and Camp Candles for Conservation wanted to give back to WSGS. This desire hatched a plan to raise public awareness and wrangle a few dollars out of fellow outdoors folks to then donate to Wisconsin Sharptailed Grouse Society.
