Jack Thomson of gekkotaculture discusses his experience with keeping reptiles in general, as well as his recent love for various gecko species such as the Uroplatus genus. He talks about his experience in keeping his reptiles during college, as well as his career aspirations in working at ZooMed and where he is in that job now. One of the most popular aspect of Jack’s care has been the addition of the “gecko room”, which is a tent set up in his garage that keeps the humidity and temperatures at the proper amounts, making the gecko species more maintainable to keep. He also goes over some of the downsides and additions that he would like to make to the tent set up, the species he keeps there, and the enclosures that he keeps them in. Jack goes over in detail what the husbandry of various Uroplatus species have outlined such as their diets, enclosure sizes, breeding activity, lighting, and humidity as well as any other aspects that came up in conversation. He also offers advice to people who are interested in keeping a species of Uroplatus, and shares the overall love that he has for the species & what makes them so interesting to keep.
