In dentistry, we place a value on everything-- our hourly goal, our procedural costs, staff salaries-- however, our internal, personal value on something may not always be what we present it as, what we expect others to view it as, or what other perceive it as. This comes into play in efficient (or inefficient) scheduling of our days by team members, our case presentations to patients, and has a lot to do with the dentistry we look for, push for, and ultimately do. When we present a case that a patient declines, its not always the patient's fault. Sometimes there's a disconnect between the pieces of the "telephone game of values". To better ourselves and our practices, we must work on this dichotomy. It's of high VALUE to us (see what I did there?!)
