Natasha Johns-Messenger is an Australian born American artist and filmmaker based in New York. She is best known for her large-scale site-determined sculptures/installations that examine spatial perception, phenomenology and light. Often, her work is a complex process of imitation, illusion and trickery activated by architectural interventions and optical physics. She employs the principles of architecture and optical illusions into an experiential “live” sculptural framework.

On view through November 22nd, 2015 is Threefold at El Museo de Los Sures presented in partnership with ISCP in New York (International Studio and Curatorial Program) curated by Melissa Bianca Amore. (Gallery info: Thursday to Sunday 1-6pm – 120 South 1st Street, Brooklyn NY.)

Other recent works have included a commission by Percent For Art and NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Alterview 2013 at Hunters Point HS/IS 404, New York. International exhibitions have taken place in Tokyo, Bogota, China, The Netherlands, Taiwan and Australia.

Upcoming in 2016 Natasha will present a solo exhibition at Heide Museum of Modern art in Melbourne Australia, curated by Linda Michael and will be a participating artist in a group exhibition titled Re-sited, Chapter 1 Post-Disciplinary Aesthetics, in various locations throughout New York.
