This interview was humbling. I met Jamie via Instagram, and I don’t know exactly how it happened, but I won’t spoil the story. You will absolutely want to hear it yourself, because Jamie is one of the most incredible recovery warriors I’ve met. She is healing day by day, and it’s been a gift watching her share her passion for life and recovery every single moment.
Jamie has gone through a lot of darkness in her life. Yet there has been healing. Her story was unlike any story I had heard among people I’ve met and know personally. I knew these stories happened, but it shook me when she started sharing her story on social media.

Yet I was rooted to the spot; here was a girl who had gone through so much, yet she was healing. There was something absolutely contagious about Jamie. She had the ‘joy unspeakable and full of glory’ that Peter talks about in 1 Peter, and it attracted me like a magnet.

This is what keeps me coming back to the ED recovery community. There are really tough stories out there, but there are really miraculous stories of healing too.
You wouldn’t know, looking at the photo above, the darkness that Jamie has gone through. She has walked through valleys of the shadow of death, and yet she has come out. God has brought her out, and she is a strong woman. She humbles me because she is so humble, incredibly enthusiastic, and her story truly reminds me of what RECOVERY, FREEDOM, REDEMPTION is.
It’s darkness to light. It’s brokenness to healing. It’s night to eternal day. It’s so glorious, I can’t express it so I’m just going to let you listen to Jamie’s story yourself.
There is some pretty tough details in this podcast. If you would be triggered by stories of abuse or drugs, please fore-go it, but it really is also VERY HOPEFUL!
Jamie’s story made me think of Psalm 23 and these two verses, ‘
‘He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.’ (vs. 3-4)
She truly walked through so many valleys. My story pales in comparison, and it was such a privilege to share her story. My hope is that this would be another testimony that there is no darkness so deep and so big that the light can not pierce it.

(I know it was SO hard some days for me especially when I thought that I would never stop struggling with a bondage to the scale, a mind that was consumed with eating, and a fear of my body. Yet, today I can say that even the darkest tunnels always have lights at the end.)
