In this episode of the“because, bikers matter!” ® Podcast with founder & Host David "Vegas" Shuman welcomes special guests Mark Augustyn and Nancy Gerloff, the team behind Mimi and Moto. Mark and Nancy are authors of children's books about motorcycles featuring two monkeys named Mimi and Moto. They have published three books so far and also sell merchandise on their website, mimiandmoto.com. The goal of the Mimi and Moto brand is to get more kids excited about motorcycles. They hope to animate their characters in the future and become ambassadors for motorcycling, attracting new families to the sport. While they haven't explored AI yet, Mark and Nancy are open to the idea and would consider partnering with someone who has experience in that field. The three books they have published are "The Adventures of Mimi and Moto," targeted at toddlers and preschoolers, "Mimi and Moto Ride the Alphabet," for older children learning the ABCs and motorcycle words, and "Mimi and Moto's Magical Meteors," a chapter book for ages seven and up. Mimi and Moto have been well-received, with their books selling out multiple printings. They also offer merchandise such as plush toys and t-shirts. Mark and Nancy are planning their travel schedule for 2024, with events like the Full Throttle Bike Show in North Carolina and the Moto GP race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. They are also looking to expand internationally and translate their books into different languages, starting with German. Mark and Nancy are open to collaborations with individuals in the television and film industry who ride motorcycles and share their passion for getting more kids interested in motorcycles.
