In this episode of the “because, bikers matter!” ® Podcast , host David "Vegas" Shuman welcomes special guest Leslie James Patton, owner of Purple Haze Kustomz. Leslie shares his background, growing up in Oklahoma and his early experiences with bikes. After taking a break from the biking world, Leslie recently got back into it and started Purple Haze Kustomz.

Leslie talks about his first bike, a mini bike with a Briggs and Stratton motor, and his favorite bike, a 76 shovelhead FX that he still owns. He also mentions his current main rider, a 2020 Red Glide Special Patriot edition.

The idea for Purple Haze Kustomz came from Leslie's love for the color purple and the 60s music era, particularly Jimi Hendrix. He specializes in working with candies and metal flake, creating old school psychedelic paint jobs.

The highlight of the episode is Leslie's recent win at the Schools Out Chopper Show in Sturgis, where his custom chopper, named Rosemary's Baby, won Best of Show. Leslie shares the inspiration behind the paint job, which was influenced by a Hollywood actress and the colors of her blouse.

Leslie discusses his future plans for Purple Haze Kustomz, including selling his current bike and working on a new project, possibly an old fifties panhead or a 70s shovelhead. He expresses his gratitude for the support from Motorcycle Safety Lawyers® and the win at the chopper show.

Host David "Vegas" Shuman and Leslie wrap up the episode by discussing their plans to meet up at the Mecum auction and enjoy some time together in Vegas.
