It is hard pressed to find someone who loves musical theatre as much as Emmy and Oscar winning producer Neil Meron. He loves musical theatre so much that he is determined to bring some of the canon's greatest works from the Great White Way into the living rooms of eager audiences all across the world. Along with Craig Zadan, he was the executive producer on the cultural shifts known as NBC's The Sound of Music Live, Peter Pan Live, The Wiz Live, Hairspray Live, Jesus Christ Superstar Live, and on May 19th, 2019, Hair Live. Plus, the television adaptations of Gypsy, Cinderella, Annie, and The Music Man. Oh, and there was the Academy Award winning Chicago and the backstage epic known as Smash. We don't know when he sleeps but we are so glad that he dropped by Shetler Studios to discuss his life and career with Rob and Kevin. Neil pulls back the curtain on his career to discuss how his industrious letter writings led to meeting his partner Craig Zadan, what it's like putting together a televised musical event, and why 1776 Live is his dream project! Also, Neil shines the spotlight on Robert Morse, Bette Midler, and Stephen Sondheim! Become a sponsor of Behind The Curtain and get early access to interviews, private playlists, and advance knowledge of future guests so you can ask the legends your own questions.
