A tremendous and historic win for Oleksandr Usyk over Tyson Fury to claim the Undisputed Heayweight crown leads our show. We recap the entire "Ring of Fire" card from Saudi Arabia, there's fight news and nostalgia all on the latest "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast."
Host T.J. Rives and Dan Rafael, insider of BigFightWeekend.com give their takes on the Usyk 12 round victory claim the fourth and final piece to undisputed by beating the WBC champ Tyson Fury. This includes Usyk very nearly stopping Fury late in the 9th round of the bout and the subsequent drama of the end of the bout. How soon will the rematch take place and what's Usyk's place in heavyweight history, currently are all discussed.
The guys go over the bulk of the card including Jai Opetaia winning again over Mairis Briedis for the IBF Crusierweight championship. Joe Cordina being upset and losing his IBF junior lightweight crown by surprising KO and Agit Kabayel getting a solid heavyweight title win, as well.
They also discuss the Top Rank Boxing card from San Diego that saw Denys Berinchyk score a surprising upset over a seemingly slower and out of shape Emanuel Navarrete for the WBO lightweight crown. What does that win mean for the Ukranian and should Naverrete, who's moved up 2 weight classes in two years, go back to 130 lb.?
There's fight news on future fights for Golden Boy lightweight star William Zepeda, a solid undercard fight being added to the Gervonta Davis PPV in June and more.
And, they finish with anniversary nostalgia on Pernell Whtiaker beating fellow hall of famer Azumah Nelson in 1990, a heavyweight double header to remember in 2000 for Dan and another hall of famer celebrating a birthday, too.
It's all on the "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast" as part of the Big Fight Weekend Podcast feed. And, make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple, Spreaker, Spotify, etc.!
