Lisa Palanca and Lynn Harris
Authors of "The Dark Side of Heaven"
In a small Lake Michigan town known as Heaven, two girls are growing up. Their lives are predictable for a white girl on the lakeshore and a black girl a few streets over. Actually, they think they are living the way they are meant to live. It is the 1970's and the racial divide is wide. But they discover that life is different on the other side.
As their friendship blossoms, they become trusted confidantes. Life changing secrets cement their allegiance to one another. Human trafficking and domestic teen violence intertwine to elevate this story above the division of race. Lisa and Lynn share the collective fierce spirit of women who stand on each other's back to survive. This is a work of fiction. Many have seen the town. Most will never see the Dark Side of Heaven.
Lisa Palanca and Lynn Harris have been friends for many years. One class reunion, while reminiscing about their lives, they decided there was a story there. Both of them spent their formative years along the shores of Lake Michigan.
Lisa is a retired teacher and lives in Michigan. Lynn is currently working as an Insurance professional and lives in Tennessee.
