Welcome to Blue Genes and Boots everyone!

In this episode, Lily Sanchez and Madison Williamson host their lab members- Dr. Weston Porter, Ramiah Vickers, Steven Wall, and Garhett Wyatt- to discuss their research, what led Dr. Porter to Texas A&M, and how their lab culture has changed over time.

The Porter lab began its research journey here at Texas A&M in 2001. Dr. Porter's lab started out focusing on a specific gene (single-minded 2, or SIM2), and over the past 20 years has branched out to studying all sorts of components of breast cancer and mitochondrial dysfunction. They use a wide range of approaches to answer their questions not only about breast cancer, but also about normal mammary gland development.
