In the latest episode of book(ish), the girls talk all about comedian Fern Brady’s memoir Strong Female Character. The book is a honest & raw telling of Brady’s autism diagnosis journey and the challenges faced along the way. This episode is sponsored by The Tandem Collective & Octopus Books. ~ trigger warnings; the memoir does help in understanding meltdowns and the struggles of people with autism, before and after diagnosis. While it could be educational for readers, the content and the tone it is written in could be challenging for some. There is a comedic tone used in some parts of the book that could be disarming for some readers but could be perceived as flippancy by others. Similar tone was used for discussions about serious topics such as self harm. We think this is an exceptionally raw, honest discussion of Fern’s own experience and we’re thrilled she’s sharing it with us. We’d also encourage readers to ensure they’re looking after themselves when reading sensitive content. #StrongFemaleCharacterReadalong #StrongFemaleCharacter #TandemReadalong --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bookishpod/message
