In the Olympic Games: Starting overnight tonight Rugby 7s Men Pool games with Samoa vs Australia at 1.30am, Fiji vs Uruguay at 3am, New Zealand vs Japan at 4am, Australia vs Kenya at 5am, Samoa vs Argentina at 5.30am, Fiji vs USA at 6.30am, New Zealand vs South Africa at 7.30am.
On Friday: Samoa vs Kenya at midnight, Australia vs Argentina at 12.30am, Fiji vs France at 1.30am and New Zealand vs Ireland at 2.30am in their final pool games.
The Men’s quarter finals will kick off at 7am Friday.
There will be a break on Saturday for the official opening of the Paris Olympics 2024, with the Men’s Rugby 7s semifinals at 1.30am on Sunday, and the final will at 5.45am.
In Rugby League: Is Phil Gould untouchable?
In May, the TV rugby league Guru was fined A$20,000 by the NRL, for calling rugby league “stupid”, prompting NRL Chief Executive Officer Andrew Abdo to publicly respond, saying “destructive attacks on the game will not be tolerated”.
Fast forward to yesterday and the NRL has backed down, suspending Gould’s fine for 12 months after his lawyer challenged it.
In SportsBiz: TNT Sports parent company Warner Bros. Discovery is attempting to make good on its bid to retain NBA rights, and has made its first big move in exercising its matching rights.
The company submitted a formal response to the NBA’s 11-year, US$76Billion rights deals with Disney, NBC Sports, and Amazon, meeting a five-day deadline to respond to the league.
WBD is targeting Amazon’s “C” package. That set of rights, estimated at US$1.8B per year.

The former two-division world champion with a 30-1 record, still hasn’t resurfaced to continue his once-promising boxing career, after his US$8Million payday for his eighth-round knockout loss to Canelo in May 2021.
And it looks like Saunders is eating very well after his huge payday, putting on at least 20Kg!
