This week we welcome Ted DeWitt, Vietnam Veteran and owner of Signarama in Covina, CA. Ted remembers the horrors and tribulations of the Vietnam War as though they were yesterday. But rather than relive his days fighting overseas as though they were playing over like a never-ending time loop, he made the decision decades ago to channel what he saw, what he learned, and what scared him the most during his time in Vietnam to establish one of the most successful signage and graphics companies in California. Ted has over 40 years in the graphic arts industry having served in senior management positions for several multi-million dollar corporations, and his hope is to share that knowledge with the veteran community. He shares his insight and knowledge with fellow veterans on how they can best channel the attributes and experiences they garnered during their time in the services to become their greatest selves upon entering the private sector. Ted also discusses the importance of community, giving back, and mentoring the next generation. He discusses getting active in your local community, and creating bonds that will help you grow personally and professionally. So whether you are starting your own business, opening a franchise, or just looking to start your civilian career off right, this is the episode for you!
This week we decided instead of highlighting a veteran owned business we would ask everyone to participate in a little challenge. This week we are asking that everyone set aside $10 and purchase an item or service from a local small business. So whether that is buying a pair of shoes at the local shoe shop instead of Walmart, or taking the kids to the local bowling alley for a few games, put $10 dollars towards that purchase. Every dollar we spend supporting local businesses helps keep our communities strong and self reliant. Join me in supporting what makes this country great...small businesses and our local communities.
