Some people are caught completely off guard when they go to buy an engagement ring because they didn't get the memo that they're also probably gonna need a wedding ring to go with it.

It seems most guys find this out when they're ready to buy an engagement ring, and it can come as a shock to be sure. So I wanted to give you a heads up in this episode so you can be prepared.

It's pretty simple and crazy symbolic. The engagement ring says, "I'm getting married," and when you couple it with the wedding ring, together, those two rings say, "I am married. Hands off."

Does that mean you need to buy her a wedding ring at the same time as the engagement ring? You definitely can, but there is a better way: let her pick out her own wedding ring.

Today's engagement rings are designed to go with all sorts of different wedding ring styles, and quite frankly, most women love mixing and matching and trying on wedding rings to see which ones she likes best. It's a really nice way for her to personalize her wedding set, and saves you a ton of time and agony.

I'll also discuss budgeting for the wedding ring. I personally believe it's best to keep the engagement ring budget separate from the potential cost of the wedding ring. Focus on getting a high-quality engagement ring that you can be proud to give, without cutting corners.

Remember, the wedding ring will come later, and as long as you have some idea about its cost, you'll have some time between your proposal and the wedding to get the right ring for her killer engagement ring.

If you'd like help finding a jeweler closer to home, email me at andy@buylikeaguy.com and I'll do my best to put you in touch with some of the best jewelers on earth.
