A gentle c-section can involve elements of a vaginal birth, giving you choice and control over your birth experience.

In this episode, we’ll explore;

  • What is a gentle c-section?

  • Common options you may have available to you for your c-section birth

*During the episode, I mentioned that my baby had ‘extra fluid,’ and I realise I wasn’t super clear about this! During a vaginal birth, mucus in the baby’s lungs is often squeezed out by the pressure of the birth canal during the birth process. This doesn’t happen during a regular c-section birth, so your baby may have extra mucus in their nose and mouth. Mucus can be suctioned out by the OB directly after birth if needed, and your midwives can give you further advice about this on the ward.
