All things impacting global supply chains this week with Tony Hines

  • It is 3 years since the UK left the EU and we take look at the impact of leaving the EU and how it has impacted supply chains.
  • Energy cost is driving up inflation. We take a look at how businesses and supply chains are impacted by energy costs and what governments need to do to secure energy and bring more certainty for business decisions and to protect consumers.
  • Shell reported $40 billion in profits. This is the highest annual profit in 115 years.
  • Energy firms have made outrageous profits according to President Biden since Russia invaded Ukraine. Exon made $56 billion and they are suing the EU over windfall taxes.
  • Central Banks raise interest rates - The Bank of England raised interest rates to 4 per cent; The US interest rate was raised the benchmark to 4.5-4.75 per cent and the European Central Bank increased rates to 2.5 per cent.
  • The IMF published its world economic outlook this week and we take a look at forecast growth rates.
