This episode came at the perfect time as I've been on my "social lie detox" for about 5-6 months and was finding myself leaning into old patterns. Fortunately, this conversation was the perfect fix to get reinvigorated to continue with a practice that has been personally transformational. If you are someone who tries to "make everything right" and avoid rocking the boat, i think you will find this episode useful and inspiring.

Highlights of our conversation:

  1. The disconnection between the theory of honesty and the day-to-day practice of it.
  2. What we misunderstand about honesty.
  3. How telling the truth about your relationship with alcohol can guide you into alignment.

JUDI KETTELER'S BIO:

Judi got her professional start working at an agency as a copywriter but has been on her own as a full-time freelance writer since 2002. A magazine-industry veteran, Judi has written for dozens of consumer magazines, such as Better Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping, Runner’s World, Self, Women’s Health, and many others. An essay she wrote for Whole Living won ASJA’s award for “Best Magazine Essay” in 2011. She frequently contributes essays to NBCNews.com and The New York Times. She’s also a regular columnist for CincinnatiMagazine, where she writes pieces about the weirdness of midlife. Mostly, she writes about honesty, and is the author of WOULD I LIE TO YOU? THE AMAZING POWER OF BEING HONEST IN A WORLD THAT LIES (Citadel Press, 2020). When she’s not writing, Judi loves running, yoga, reading, sewing, doing backflips on the trampoline, and going to flea markets. She lives with her husband and two children in Cincinnati, Ohio.
