Any episode that ends with your guest exclaiming “I’ve ruined Halloween!” has got to be good.
Welcome to Day Five of our twelve-day Halloween special! Each day for the next twelve days we’ll be bringing you discussions with a variety of film writers, bloggers, podcasters, and horror enthusiasts about the horror genre and what their favorite scary movies are. We’ve got a great lineup of guests for you, including today, with Matt Patches, the Movies Editor at Hollywood.com and one of the hosts of the Operation Kino podcast! Matt first goes into why John Carpenter’s THE THING is such a brilliant enduring classic (and why itis one of the few films that can actually scare him) and then discusses how Michael Haneke’s FUNNY GAMES changed how he looked at horror and movie violence in general. It’s a fantastic, thought-provoking episode that I really enjoyed, so hit play already!
(A note: there are some minor audio glitches in the first couple minutes of the episode — Skype being Skype — but these sort themselves out shortly)
Remember, come back tomorrow for Day Six of our special!
