The Oscars form the backdrop of this month's show, where Cinetopia founder Amanda Rogers is joined by co-producer and critic Jim Ross (TAKEONECinema.net Managing Editor), the returning Simon Bowie, and new contributor Clara Strachan. Together they review three films leading the Oscar race and available soon for UK audiences: Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman, starring Carey Mulligan; Sound of Metal, Darius Marder's drama of a metal drummer, played by Riz Ahmed, who begins to lose his hearing; and Nomadland, Chloe Zhao's portrait of nomad life as portrayed by Frances McDormand. Out soon, the team also review Black Bear before Jim interviews the film's director, Lawrence Michael Levine. To finish, the team discuss their favourites of the Oscar-nominated short films and deep dive into some of the talking points ahead of the 93rd Academy Awards.
