A Clare auctioneer believes the State should build Florida-style retirement villages to cater to an element of the market currently being missed. The lackluster supply of second-hand homes in Clare has come to the fore as new analysis from MyHome.ie shows the number on the market here has dropped by 63% in the last ten years. Nationally, the number of second-hand properties for sale is down 50% in this period with Munster the worst affected province having experienced a 61% reduction. Managing Director of DNG O'Sullivan Hurley in Ennis Douglas Hurley has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons elderly people looking to downsize are currently being left out in the cold due to the inavailability of suitable properties for them to buy.
