A Clare member of the Irish Hotels Federation is expressing relief for the tourist season following the conclusion of the Aer Lingus Pilots strike. The long-running pay dispute, which led to 610 flights being cancelled came to a halt yesterday after IALPA members voted to accept a 17.75% pay rise. Last year, over 70% of visitors to Clare arrived from overseas, leading to fears that protracted industrial action would have a major impact on the summer economy. Co-Owner of the Shannon Springs Hotel Dermot Kelly says the focus must now turn to providing greater marketing resources for indigenous tourism.
