Clare's County Dog Warden is arguing the case for further restrictions around dangerous dogs following today's decision to ban XL bullies. From October 1st, it will be illegal to breed, sell, rehome or import XL bully dogs and from February 1st, owning an XL bully will be banned unless the owner has a Certificate of Exemption. The move comes one month after 23-year-old Limerick native Nicole Morey died after being attacked by her pet XL bully - while just this week, two XL bullies were destroyed after a child was attached in south-east Clare. Clare County Dog Warden Frankie Coote has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons he believes regulations are sorely needed around the housing and care of dogs on the "restricted breeds" list.
