Confidence is being expressed that a new council plan will bring major improvements to road safety in Clare's heavily tourist trafficked areas. It's after a proposal was approved by the local authority to install directional arrows at entrances and exits to towns and villages, in addition to enhancing road markings and junction definition countywide. Over 50% of international tourists to Clare last year, used a private car as their method of transport around the county. Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy says having clear signage available for those unfamiliar with the local system is crucial.
