A newly-elected councillor is calling for new industrial hubs created across County Clare. Clare County Council conducted a full audit of vacant enterprise space in Ennis and Shannon in 2018 and 2019, while an Ennis Town Health Check due to be carried out across September and October is intended to capture vacant industrial space in the town. The Clare County Development Plan 2023-2029 meanwhile identifies a number of green field sites suitable for industrial, enterprise and other employment uses throughout the count. Kilmurry-Ibrickane Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Shannon believes young people need greater incentives to remain in Clare.
