Episode 19 of the podcast is now live and I’m joined by special Guest Fiona Kelly. My very first written GIY interview on the blog was with Fiona so it’s only fitting that she is the last guest of season one. So sit back, grab a cuppa and let’s find out why growing your own food is a fantastic idea.

It’s time for you to put the kettle on, grab your knitting and make yourself comfortable. Today’s show is a fun filled 40 minutes, so sit back listen and enjoy this wonderful interview.

Fiona Grows Food

The very first time I fell across Fiona online was on her beautiful award winning gardening blog Fiona Grows Food. Her writing made me laugh and yearn for more posts but she also inspired me to take up the raised bed mantle and really dig in (pun intended) around the cottage. Her depth of knowledge when it comes to growing your own food is astonishing and quite frankly there are times when I read her posts and I’m a little worried about her but please for the male readers, never buy this woman flowers.

One of the important topics that we chat about in this episode of the podcast is the important relationship we have with food and food waste. How has growing her own food made her change her attitude to food consumption and food waste? What changes can we make to our daily lives to reduce food waste? Have a listen and find out more.

GIY Ireland – Grow Magazine

One of the highlights of this year has been watching Fiona break new ground as a writer (yes I did it again) but this year Fiona joined the team over at GIY International, providing workshops and also writing for their quarterly publication GROW of which I am a huge fan and a subscriber. So you can imagine the squeals of delight around here when I read her first featured article. When you listen to the podcast you will find out more about how this all came about.

Electric Ireland Campaign

Did you see it? Fiona also starred in her very first Ad campaign with Electric Ireland. For those of you that haven’t check out Fiona’s Stay Happy Tales here:

If you want to listen to more from Fiona you can find her on the Bloom in the Park recordings from Bloom 2017 and Bloom 2016 too on Soundcloud and of course on our favourite podcast, The Sod Show with Peter Donegan. You can find her on Twitter and Instagram and from all of us here at the cottage, Thank you so much for coming on the show and the best of luck with your new freelancing career!
