something-new

What is it about September that it feels like the start of another year? The kids go back to school and some calm and routine descends and everything starts to fall into place again. Here at the cottage we have begun to find the energy and enthusiasm for new projects and today I get to share one of these with all of you.

Before that, I do want to say a big hi and welcome to some new followers, thank you for joining in and I hope you enjoy the time you spend here. I am so excited to share our new Podcast, I’ve uploaded a short intro piece that explains what our plans are for that and I will add the show notes to the end of this blog piece.

Over the last three years there have been so many changes to our lives; we bought the Cottage and promptly had not one but two little girls. When you become a parent people say nothing can prepare you for it and no matter how many times you hear those words you think you understand and you have prepared as much as you can. Then you wake up to your new family, it feels like you’ve been hit by a train and it’s four months later and you have no idea why your top is on backwards or why your holding that one shoe that doesn’t match anything else in the house!

So, putting together A Cottage Lover’s Notebook has allowed me to regain some time for me, to focus on those things I had thought I had lost when I became a mum but it turns out they were just hibernating and waiting for me to have the energy to bring to life the ideas I had while raising a toddler and cooking baby number two. Now that these little monkeys are a little older and I’ve melded mum duties and toddler entertainment with my passions of gardening and craft it was time for a fresh start and to start our story as a family. I’m not the same person who started crafting all those years ago, I’ve grown, learned things I didn’t even think I needed to ever know (like just how does a baby manged to get poop EVERYWHERE? and why do my peas prefer being looked after by my toddler rather than the adult?) Going back to work PT and getting to chat to some fellow knitters and crocheters has allowed me to dream again and be creative and it’s a part of me I missed so much, so thank you!

So, here is the Cottage Notebook Podcast introduction. I hope you like it and the changes that are happening here on the blog.
