Kit Marie and Hilary Habeck Hunt grab some peppermint tea and chat about native lands, conservation, chronic illness in academia, amongst other things. Hilary is a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is completing a joint degree in Geography and Environment/Resources. Before returning to the academy for a PhD, she spent nearly a decade in environmental conservation nonprofits around the U.S., including Oregon, New York, and Michigan. Due to this experience, she identifies as both practitioner and academic, and her scholarship reflects this hybridity. When not teaching, reading, or writing about land conservation and political ecology, she nerds out on Tolkien lore and tweets about chronic illness and disability in academia. Some links to things mentioned in the chat: - Tolkien and environmentalism (https://thecritic.co.uk/tolkien-and-environmentalism/) - Teejop and the Ho-Chunk (https://tribalrelations.wisc.edu/dejope/) - Native Land GIS map (https://www.native-land.ca) - ‘This Land is Whose Land?
