According to ADDmagazine.com see reference here, about 6.1 million (9.4%) of children between the ages of 2 and 17 have been diagnosed with ADD.

This figure includes:

  • 388,000 (2.4 percent) of young children aged 2 to 5 years

  • 2.4 million (9.6 percent) of school-age children aged 6 to 11 years

  • 3.3 million (13.6 percent) of adolescents aged 12 to 17 years

And nearly two thirds of children with ADD have at least one other condition such as anxiety, depression, autism, and learning disorders.

These numbers are a snapshot of the difficulties that children, teens, and adults manage everyday while trying to figure out their emotional and mental needs.

As a parent of an ADD child or teen, you are already acutely aware of the challenges that come with this unique type of brain. You deserve a huge hug and a big medal.
