How do you feel about the way women are represented in the surf industry?

When we, at iaera surf, asked this question on a women’s surf forum we received dozens of responses within minutes! Your enthusiasm to share your thoughts and experiences as a woman who surfs inspired us to start this podcast.

In this episode, we’ll discuss your confessions on this topic with special guest Vanessa Yeager, a community creator in the women’s surf community.

Vanessa is a community leader who started the largest women’s surfing group in the world. Her group, Women Who Surf on Facebook has grown to over 9000 members and counting and has even had a shout-out from legend Bethany Hamilton. Vanessa has also started surf communities such as Latinx Surf Club, promoting representation within the Latinx Surf community, and Courage Camps, a community here in Southern California that offers free lessons to break the stigma of surfing.

In this episode we’ll discuss:

  • Vanessa’s background and her struggles as a new surfer
  • How Vanessa has created the largest women's surf community in the world
  • How she feels about the way women are represented in the surf industry
  • How we can authentically ourselves as women who surf

Of course, the conversation would not be complete if we didn’t include your confessions to: How do you feel about the way women are represented in the surf industry?
Hang out with Vanessa Yeager and Host Laura Day through this empowering conversation about representation and community!
