KDramas are dominated by women writers - almost 90% of the screenwriters are women. This episode is dedicated to some of these amazing women whose writing we have loved and enjoyed. We have tried to provide a balanced view of what we liked and disliked in their dramas.

Writers and Dramas Discussed:

  1. Kim Eun Sook: Goblin, Mr Sunshine, Descendants of the Sun, Secret Garden, A Gentleman's Dignity. USP: Ensemble casts, bromance, pioneer of Gender Bender trope
  2. Hong Sisters(Jung Eun & Mi Ran): My Girl, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Master's Sun, Hotel Del Luna, Warm & Cozy. USP: Fantasy and innocent charm in relationships, folklore
  3. Park Hye Ryun: StartUp, While You Were Sleeping, Pinnochio, I Hear Your Voice. USP: Second Lead Syndrome, Dramas based on real life scenarios
  4. Park Ji Eun: Crash Landing on You, The Legend of the Blue Sea, My Love from the Star. USP: Lovers from different worlds, Fantasy.
  5. Yang Hee Seung: Weightlifting Fairy, Familiar Wife, Oh My Ghost, Once Again. USP: Strong female lead characters, Organic relationships
  6. No Hee Kyung: It's Okay That's Love, Padam Padam, Most Beautiful Goodbye. USP: Complex characters and Relationships, pioneer for tackling a drama on mental health
  7. Lee Woo Jung: Reply series, Hospital Playlist. USP: Slice of life dramas, large ensemble casts, well-etched family characters and relationships
  8. Kim Eun Hee: Signal, Kingdom. USP: Suspense, thrillers, and strong female protagonists/antagonists

Corrigendum:

  1. 00:45:16: Poonam means the drama 'Familiar Wife', not Familiar Life.
  2. 01:04:24: Minal means Reply 1988 not Reply 1998.

Time Leap(25:20) - The show skips ahead or back to the past to show the progression of a storyline or character.
