Welcome to Creative Entrepreneurs Online. Each week I give you lessons, strategies, resources, and insights for creating marketing content that helps you stand out as the CEO of your creative business instead of blending in with the crowd.

I m your host Christine Laureano.

Thank you so much for joining me here on the podcast and letting me be part of your day.

CEO-Episode-19-Your Editor Id Your Writing VIP-Loral Pepoon

As a content marketer and copywriter, I write A LOT. I get these stream of consciousness flows that pour out onto the page. I ll read it, and re-read it, satisfied that I created a piece that people will find valuable. It all looks good to me

Which is why I never hit publish without doing this ONE thing first.

How many times have you written a blog post only to have a read (or several readers) make comments. We love the idea of writing a piece that is good enough for our readers to comment on. That s what we strive for.

Until

The comments come in the form of corrections for misspelled words or edits to our work.

Yikes!

That is NOT what we want.

So, what is the one thing I do before I ever hit publish?

I have my editor read my work!

When we write, we know exactly what we are trying to say we get on a roll and write. When we go back to re-read our work, trying to catch any mistakes, our brain fills in the gaps. It doesn t catch our misspelled words, our foibles in sentence structure or even incomplete thoughts.

Today s guest is Loral Pepoon! She is editor!

In our conversation, Loral is going to talk about the editing process, the different types of editing, and what to look for in an editor.

You want to wrap your reader up in your story and have them come out inspired not have them pick apart your bad spelling and poor grammar.

I hope you get as much from this podcast and the editing process as I did.

Loral s special for you Editing Definitions and Checklist (pdf) plus she is also offering a free ½ hour phone consultation and an estimate for a particular project, please email loralpepoon@gmail.com, and use the word Ba6 Marking podcast in the subject line.

Once you have listened to Loral s tips for using and editor for all of your writing work, I d love to know what your take-aways from today s lesson with Loral? I d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
