Canada has one antiquated real estate system but a sprinkling of FINTECH startups, notably Propertybid.ca, CRH’s newest partner, stand poised to transform a real estate process with cracks all over it.
This week we have one cool scoop: Stephen Moore, Propertybid.ca’s CEO and founder, speaks with CRH Key Points’ Mark Page to address the question Stephen and his partner Josh Gold had in mind when they designed Propertybid.ca: “Why can’t everyone around the table know exactly—and equally—what’s going on as a property deal unfolds?”
Stephen’s well-articulated answer—and May, 2017 launch of Propertybid.ca’s platform—stems from a very personal disappointment: when the house next door came up for sale, he and his family wanted his daughter to buy the home. Stephen, a veteran by this point of some 20 residential deals, participated in the family initiative to buy the house. To his dismay, in the blind bidding war for the house, the Moore offer fell short by $1,000.
A family dream vanished in an instant.
Prepared to go much higher than the winning bid, but powerless to up the ante, Stephen realized that his self-questioning about which challenge to tackle next after his first and highly successful career in technology executive placement had an answer.
Reinvent the real estate sales process by providing, as Stephen says, “the best mechanism for selling and buying property”—all the while opening up the global market for Canadian properties.
