They're headlining festivals, they went on tour with Metallica, and if their latest single "Everything Ends" keeps going, they might have one of their biggest hits in the band's long history on their hands. The band Dinosaur Pile-Up just announced a new album and released two new songs. After kicking down the door of mainstream rock with the 2019 album Celebrity Mansions, we haven't really heard much from the band. There's a good reason for that, lead singer Matt Bigland was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a digestive disease that wrecks your insides. Something I know a lot about as 15 years ago I found out that I had celiac disease, both are autoimmune diseases with similar outcomes, and they both suck. Matt ended up in the hospital for a bit, so his health needed to come first. Now though, he's better than ever, and the band is firing on all cylinders. Two new songs are out called "My Way and 'Bout to Lose It." They come off a new album called I've Felt Better, due out in August of 2025. On a side note, I personally am a huge fan of this band, and I'm stoked to have this conversation.…

You know Kerry King as the legendary guitarist of what some would say are the ultimate heavy metal band, Slayer. Well a few years ago Slayer announced their retirement, they were hanging up the riffs for good. So Kerry being Kerry King took some songs he had already been working on and decided to put out a solo record. He's got a great lineup of musicians with him including Paul Bostaph of Slayer, Phil Demmel formerly of Machine Head, Kyle Sanders from Hellyeah and singing is Mark Osegueda of Death Angel. That reads like a supergroup of metal lineup, but here they are playing with Kerry King. The finished product is the album From Hell I Rise due out on May 17th. Kerry sits down with me to fill us in on how this project came out of the ashes of Slayer. I should also mention that Slayer did reunite and are playing some select festivals later this year, but how that happened will have to be saved for another conversation down the line.…

At the time of this conversation (last week) Daughtry's latest single and by far his heaviest song to date, was sitting at number 2 on the rock charts. As of the posting of this conversation, that song has officially gone number one and as we found out in this conversation, it sure means a lot to him to have a number-one ROCK song. As you may or may not know Chris's story starts with a finalist finish on American Idol almost 20 years ago, and for a while he wasn't doing the type of music that was close to his heart. In 2020 that changed and he ain't looking back. Now with the song "Artificial" having this success, a duet with Papa Roach, tours with Shinedown and Creed, a new tour later this year with Breaking Benjamin, Daughtry have cemented themselves amongst the rock elite.…

The name (hed) PE is as synonymous with the nu-metal genre as Korn is. While they may not have gotten to the same popularity heights (hed) PE and their style of music embodies everything we love about the genre. Jahred Gomes formed the band in Huntington Beach, CA in 1994 and found huge success a few years later with songs like "Bartender" and "Blackout." In late 2023 they put out a new album called Detox and it might be their best complete body of work in decades.
