Men of The World Who Changed The World
Manage episode 405972942 series 3450754
Who are these men we speak of, Izzie Einstein, Moe Smith, Alan Pinkerton, and William Fairbairn. Throughout history people have played a part in the shaping of our world, in one way or another. First we start with Izzie Einstein and Moe Smith, a pair of prohibition agents who shaped the landscape for future task force style investigations, often times going undercover to bust illegal liquor operations, and infiltrate "Speak-Easy's", The prohibition was a pivotal time in the United States. These 2 men help shape the way we look at task force investigations, and stayed true to the words of "Nothing personal, just doing our jobs..."
Next we slap you upside your brain with a legendary figure, Alan Pinkerton, a man destined to create an investigative empire spanning hundreds of years...Pinkerton foiled one of the plots to assassinate Abraham Lincoln, well, at least that one time he did. He was pivotal in shaping the victory for North Army defeating the south in the Civil War that shaped our country forever. Although historical scholars and some of his own colleagues tried their best to shame him, he rose to the top, and remains an impressive figure.
Finally, we finish off with William Fairbairn, a truly man of mystery, and probably the guy who inspired the commercial for the "Most interesting man in the word." Fairbairn is often credited as the person who inspired the creation of "Q-Branch" in the James Bond franchise...wouldn't that be an honor of a legacy, to hell with shaping the outcome of the Civil War, I'm known for James Bond shit...Fairbairn is also known for his extreme martial arts stature, and shaping the empty hand combative techniques fighting soldiers of WWII utilized, both British and American...he would be a man on the ground as a police officer in Shanghai, in the early part of the 20th Century, a very dangerous and violent place to be as a 16 year old police officer working in a foreign country. That my friends is when shit gets learned, and when the necessity to survive the streets becomes apparent. Survival out of sheer will, and fear of death rises to the top...a true badass. He was a man who changed many different disciplines, and help shape WWII.
Here we go! We will take you from the Civil War to WWII, as we tackle these historic men who changed the world as we know it! Grab a pint, slap on your slippers, start a fire, and get ready to KO your mind!
