E23: The next Jeff Bezos - Mohammad Afridi, founder of Delikart in 2017. We discuss Mohammad’s first steps into developing his B2B and B2C on-demand delivery beta platform for the Greater Manchester Area and Liverpool and he shares how he first had to pitch to his mum to buy into his idea before he could successfully convince Venture Capitalists. This universal platform acts as a high street, similar to Amazon, but doing same day delivery!
Mohammad expressly delivers ;) his fundraising journey and using his family, staff and counsel from the Growth Company to help shape him enough to win a national grant to develop his app in both South Africa and the UK.
“Remember always, an airplane takes off against the wind..and just keep [pushing forward]” - Mohammed Afridi
He goes on to discuss the process of finding and recruiting key people, developing from $32 million series II investment, graduating from multiple accelerator programs (NatWest and Accelerator Squared) and pooling his knowledge from books such as ‘Zero to One: Notes on Start Ups, or How to Build the Future’ by Blake Masters and the psychology of selling.
