This week we recap and review Jessica Jones episode 12, “AKA Take a Bloody Number.”
Just one more episode folks. Hang in there. If we can– you can.
This week’s episode centers on Jessica and Luke Cage hunting down Kilgrave who is working with his father (Alan? Albert? Andrew? Phillip?) to expand the power and range of his ability. And when Jessica and Cage finally catch up to Kilgrave, oh boy, it’s a doozy (meh) of a throw down. While the gang takes turns deciding what was genuine and what was Kilgrave’d they spend most of the episode making comparisons to the Terminator or The Matrix. What would a Dude Watches episode be without countless references to other, far better, works of theater.
Here are the broad strokes:
- Kilgrave is making his powers last longer and with greater distance thanks to the (tireless– get it?) efforts of dear old dad.
- Patsy and Mama Patsy have some heartfelt(?) conversations that reveal Jessica may be a robot sent from the future to protect John Conner, or maybe she was genetically engineered by Koslov. Still on the fence about that one.
- Jessica and Luke team up to track down Kilgrave, all the while (spoiler!) Cage has been under Kilgrave’s control.
- Jessica and Luke duke it out while a surprisingly tall David Tennant is too short to sing into a microphone. Obviously, as discussed in every-single-episode, the physics of their fight is ridiculous and the gang spends a lot of time making fun of it.
- In the end Kilgrave gets away (again– sorry, no Scooby Doo ending here) and Jessica attempts to blow Cage’s face off with a shotgun. Gee, gang, do you think it worked? Did she manage to hurt the unbreakable man? Noooo. But we’ll see more of that in the finale for sure.
Well, there you go kiddies— 12 down, 1 to go.
