Oh, the boys are back together and it feels sooo good. The gang sits down to talk about Leftovers season two, episode three, “Off Ramp,” wherein Laurie talks a lot and wears make up (and is finally pretty and not so rough), Tommy wants to give out hugs, someone decides to ignore traffic laws, and Meg is a rapist. Dude, OMG, Lindelof! This week’s episode focuses on Laurie and Tommy’s journey after the events of season one; Laurie copes with coming out of the Guilty Remnant while Tommy adjusts to his new life outside of Wayne’s embrace. Tommy infiltrates Guilty Remnant “hives” to save those who seem most eager or ready to leave while Laurie works as a counselor-slash-psychiatrist in order to try and help those leaving the GR to re-assimilate back to their lives before their deliberate departure from their lives post October 14, 2011. Both Laurie and Tommy try to save a troubled GR member, who, as we’ll learn, takes matters into her own hands. As with everything in this show, everything on the surface is a facade and we learn about Laurie’s late night drives, and that Tommy may (or may not) possess Holy Wayne’s magical hug powers. There are some pretty wild rumors and speculative analysis, too, provided by Caleb dealing with David Burton and his claims in Australia as well as Laurie’s vehicular shenanigans.
This was a fun episode to record as we all participated in our first ever foray into the Periscope app, where we live-streamed the entire podcast, as well as the ensuing Dude, OMG!
