We can look at this sermon as brought by GOD thru this man. A man that had struggles and addictions, but our Heavenly Father is a loving and faithful GOD. GOD had called him into the ministry and wants to use him no matter his past.
GOD can use us if we are willing to let him.
Most of the best servants of GOD are ones that have gone thru things and know that it was only because of GOD that they are still alive.
