This episode is an introduction to our experiences with meditation and is the first of many episodes where we will dive deep into the various practices of meditation and mindfulness.

One of our favorite definitions of meditation is from David Fontana, “the experience of the limitless nature of the mind when it ceases to be dominated by its usual mental chatter.” Basically, meditation it the practice of experiencing your thoughts in a different way, and practicing being present with them.

Michael Singer, author and founder of Temple of the Universe Yoga and Meditation Center said, “you are not your thoughts you are only the observer of them.” When we recognize that we are not our thoughts and that our thoughts are real but not necessarily true, we are able to understand ourselves on a deeper level.

How often in your day are you truly present? We often live in the past and the future and forget to embrace the present moment. Meditation is a way to quiet the mental chatter around anxieties of the past and anticipations about the future and really embrace what is in the here and now.

As women who experience anxiety, we have both have seen the significant benefits of our meditation practice. We hope to bring you all the power to change your thinking and even your life.
