The 1,600-sq.-ft. addition increases the TTSC’s total floor space to 9,800 sq. ft., which the company said enhances its ongoing training program. The facility contains five working elevators, multiple test stands and a large multimedia conference room, as well as several offices for staff. The TTSC is part of Mowrey’s comprehensive manufacturing facility, which already covers more than 8 acres of manufacturing space. The TTSC provides training, technical support and continuing education to Mowrey’s workforce of more than 280 employees, as well as to the company’s partners and distributors and to first responders. FOSTER+PARTNERS DESIGNS UNIQUE DRONE FIRM HQ IN SHENZHEN Robot fighting rings, R&D areas and office space are part of the new Shenzhen, China, headquarters for DJI, consisting of a striking pair of towers designed by Foster + Partners, various news outlets, including New Atlas, report. Height and construction timeframe were unavailable as of May, but renderings reveal a "unique workplace" featuring towers with multiple glazed boxes and sky gardens cantilevering out from a central steel framework. The towers will be connected by a skybridge, which is also expected to be used for drone testing. Also set to include a theater and gymnasium, the large, column-free floors will accommodate quadruple-height drone flight-testing labs. ESCALATOR ACCIDENT FATAL FOR 10-MONTH-OLD GIRL IN INDIA A mall in India near the Pakistan border was the scene of a tragedy on May 10 when a 10-month-old girl slipped from her mother's arms over an escalator handrail and died on the scene, various news outlets, including the Daily Mail, report. Mother, father and child were traveling on the escalator to the fourth floor when the accident, which was captured on video, occurred. Witnesses said the mother lost her balance while taking a picture with her phone. Police investigated but said, "This is a clear-cut case of an accident." TALLEST HOTEL IN CUBA PLANNED DESPITE CRITICISM A real-estate subsidiary of GAESA, the military consortium in Cuba, could break ground in September on a 154-m-tall, 42-story hotel in Havana that would be Cuba's tallest hotel, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat reported, citing a report from América TeVé. With construction expected to take approximately four years, the 565-room structure is part of GAESA's plan to build 7,500 hotel rooms in Havana by 2025, which has been "strongly criticized" by a populace that points out government funds could be better spent on infrastructure repair. The Cuban State did not provide a cost estimate, but an anonymous source provided the conservative price tag of US$200 million.
